The Beautiful Tragedy of My Second Mom

I have two mothers. The first is my birth mom, Marci. She is a liberal powerhouse who is academically brilliant and socially active. She loves Joy Reid and MSNBC and her Jewish heritage. Her intensity burns white hot for the issues and people she cares about, and being late is such a sin in her mind that she set all the clocks in our house ahead 20 minutes while I was growing up.
