Rachel Nemhauser

Rachel Nemhauser is the mom of an autistic young adult with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and her family has been navigating disability systems for more than two decades. Along the way, she learned a lot of things nobody hands you in a pamphlet, including that knowing what your family is entitled to and knowing how to actually get it can be two very different things. For more than a decade, Rachel has worked alongside families of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She spent 11 years at The Arc of King County, ultimately serving as Director of Information and Family Support, and served two terms on the Washington State Developmental Disabilities Council. She has supported thousands of families through special education, DDA and other service systems, transition to adulthood, guardianship, and decision-making. Today, through R&R Retreats and Nemhouse Disability and Family Support Services, Rachel offers families practical, knowledgeable support that can make a complicated road feel a little more manageable.

Robin Tatsuda

Robin Tatsuda has spent much of her life alongside people with developmental disabilities and the families who love and support them. Her connection to this community is both professional and deeply personal. Robin’s 21-year-old niece has an intellectual disability, and Robin has been part of her journey from early developmental delays, through navigating school supports, to the transition into adulthood. Professionally, Robin spent 12 years at The Arc of King County, beginning as an intern while earning her Master of Social Work and ultimately serving as Executive Director. Throughout her career, she has supported individuals and families, created community programs, and advocated for meaningful change at the local, state, and federal levels. What has stayed with Robin most is the importance of having people who truly understand. She co-founded R&R Parent Retreats to create a space for parents to step away from the demands of everyday life, connect with others who understand, learn, laugh, rest, and take care of themselves.
